Our Vision for the event

Invitation

Who is coming

We have around 100 children and young people from across South Yorkshire attending the conference and we are keen to ensure you will be there to hear what they have to say and have the opportunity to talk together about the next steps in our work as the children and young people alliance.

We are delighted to announce the conference keynote speakers are Dame Rachel De Souza the Children’s Commissioner for England who will be sharing their insights alongside young people.

FAQs

What if I have a meeting during the day?

If you need to do a video meeting during the day, there is plenty of communal space iin the hotel you can make use of, including, if it's nice, seating outside. We cannot provide you with a private room.

Do I need to pay for parking?

ALL parking for the day is FREE. The parking register machine will be turned off for the conference to make it easier for everyone attending, so simply park and come in.

What should I wear?

Our aim is to enable everyone to feel comfortable and safe during the day of the conference. It’s important to the young people that they feel a sense of equality in their conversations with you and ask that we all wear casual clothing.

What is expected of me?

There is an expectation from the young people that you will be ready to take collective action and we will be considering the ‘what next’ from our time together whilst we are all in the same space. This is a unique opportunity to address the big issues we all care so much about together.

Where can you get help?

If you think your child is having trouble with communicating and talking to you, discuss your concerns with a professional such as a health visitor, GP, nursery/school teacher who can provide advice and consider whether they may require a referral to a speech and language therapist or GP.
