Cancer
Lets talk about cancer
Cancer might feel like a scary word and something that people might want to avoid speaking about, but learning about it can help you feel more confident and ready to support yourself and others.
Whether it’s understanding what cancer is, spotting signs to look out for, or being there for a friend or family member, you’ve got the power to make a difference.
What's this all about
We’re working with schools and communities in South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw to bring cancer education to young people like you.
Our goal? To help you:
• Better understand what cancer is: It’s not just a science lesson, it’s about knowing how it affects people’s lives.
• Spotting the signs: Learning what to look out for in yourself and others can help catch cancer early, which makes a huge difference.
• Supporting each other: Whether it’s a friend, family member, or someone in your community, you can be there for them.
Why it matters
Did you know 1 in 2 people will face cancer in their lifetime? By learning about cancer now, you can:
• Feel less worried and more prepared
• Talk openly about cancer with people you care about
• Help spread the word and support others
What you can do
We’ve created some easy-to-follow resources to help you learn about cancer in a way that makes sense.
You might explore these in school, or you can check them out yourself! They cover things like:
• What cancer is
• Signs and symptoms to look out for
• How to be a supportive friend or family member if someone is going through or being affected by cancer
