Bereavement Support



Sheffield Children’s Hospital Foundation Trust – Bereavement Team
The Bereavement Team is available Monday to Thursday, 8am–4pm. They offer support to families for up to 15 months after a child’s death, in line with national bereavement guidelines.
Their support includes:
- Guidance throughout the child death process
- Sibling support, in partnership with national charities
- Support within schools
- Home visits
- Assistance with attending meetings
- Referrals for counselling via BBW or other appropriate charities
The Bereavement Suite (0114 271 7246, 8am–4pm) provides support with visiting a child after death, registering the death, and accessing funeral care.
Referrals can be made by email or phone.
Bereavement Midwives (Barnsley Hospital)
Support for families whose child died under age 1.
Bereavement Café
Monthly peer support space for those experiencing loss (Hammerton’s Catering Suite, 217a Wakefield Rd, Barnsley).
Bereavement Cafe offers the chance to meet with others who understand the experience with loss. This is a space to talk about the pain of bereavement and find support when you need it most. The cafe runs every third Thursday of the month from 3.30pm to 5pm
