SEND Youth Voice & Influence

Welcome to SENDing Voices, a creative initiative led by young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) in Sheffield. This project is all about amplifying their voices, sharing their experiences, and influencing positive change in education and beyond.

About the SEND Booklet

Our SEND Animation Resource Pack has been designed to help educators, youth workers, and professionals better understand and support young people with SEND. Inside the booklet, you’ll find:

  • An introduction to the Youth Voice & Influence Team – who we are and what we do.
  • About SENDing Voices – a group of passionate young people aged 13–25 who meet to discuss challenges and create solutions.
  • Five themed activities linked to short films:
    • Communication – Listening beyond words.
    • Inclusion – Moving from presence to belonging.
    • Independence – Designing for all learners.
    • Transitions – Supporting change with care.
    • Acceptance – Valuing every student as they are.
  • Booking and evaluation forms – for schools and colleges who want to run these sessions or invite our team to deliver them.

Introducing the Animation Series

In partnership with My Pockets, SENDing Voices have co-produced five powerful short films that bring real experiences to life. These animations explore the same five themes as the resource pack:

  • Communication
  • Inclusion
  • Independence
  • Transitions
  • Acceptance

The scripts and voiceovers were created by the young people themselves, ensuring authenticity and impact. These films are not just stories—they are calls to action for educators and communities to listen, adapt, and celebrate difference.
