Cathy Winfield
Role within the CYP Alliance
I am the Executive Chief Nurse at the ICB and also the Executive lead for Children and Young People ensuring that the voice of CYP is threaded through the work we do at the ICB. I support and champion the work of the CYP Alliance to ensure the needs, well being and voice of children underpins all that we do. I am committed to ensuring that we make positive changes to the lives, opportunities and outcomes for children and young people.

Why does it matter?
As a nurse I started my career with Children and Young People, I am a mother, an aunt and believe that our children and young people are the key to us making health and well being better for all. Ensuring children have the best start in life, can develop and be nurtured in a place of positive health and wellbeing and go on to grow and contribute to our communities is integral to who I am and what I see as a priority for the Alliance.
My impact
I have been a nurse for 35 years, putting people at the heart of what I do is key to me and ensuring we can give people the best opportunities to live their lives well. I am passionate about giving a voice to those that feel vulnerable and may struggle to raise theirs and in 2020 I received an MBE for services to nursing and improving the lives of others.
Something a bit different…
I am a huge football fan and spend my weekends on the terraces cheering on my local team, I love live music and experiencing that with my own children. My passion is my garden, growing vegetables and spending time with my family.
