Violence reduction navigators
Violence reduction navigators
What are Navigators?
Navigators can you support you if you are involved in violence at home, school or in the community. When someone comes to Sheffield Children’s for help with a health problem related to violence, Navigators will offer support. This could be in the Emergency Department, if you’re staying on a ward, or attending an outpatient appointment.
If you're living in Sheffield you can get support in and outside of hospital to achieve a positive outcome and break any negative cycles.
We believe that everyone has the right to a healthy, happy life and with the right support, everyone can make a positive change, if they want to.
What kind of support do Navigators give?
Navigators promise to be
- non-judgemental and can find support that matches your needs.
- a safe person to talk to — even if you only want a chat.
- able to link you to a wide network of different support organisations that can help you with whatever you’re going through.
- helpful in teaching you to manage your wounds.
How can I speak to a Navigator?
The navigators are based at Sheffield Children’s Hospital. They usually wear a grey top with pink writing that says ‘Navigator’.
You can approach them directly, ask a nurse or doctor to speak to them, or they may approach you if they think you’d find it useful.
