Mutual Aid Group - Sheffield

This group was formed in March 2020 to promote community solidarity during the Covid epidemic. While the initial peak of infections appears to have passed, the virus will be a clear and present danger for the foreseeable future.

A return to ‘normal’ life is impossible - and wouldn’t be good enough anyway, because ‘normal’ life was already a crisis for many. A huge economic shock is playing out that will affect us all deeply.

As a group they aim to adapt to this new reality, finding ways to engage in mutual aid throughout this prolonged crisis.

Mutual aid is something you do together, with cooperation and solidarity at its core. Charity is always controlled by those able to do the giving and the organisations they set up.

They want to develop sustainable work that folk do together rather than be a recruiting ground and marketing platform for the voluntary sector and the services they provide.
